Inducted to the South African Gallery of Legends

In 2023, Dr Esther Mahlangu was inducted into the South African Gallery of Legends, an honour recognising individuals whose lives and work have left an indelible mark on the nation's cultural landscape.

The induction placed Dr Mahlangu among a select group of South Africans celebrated for the scale and endurance of their contribution — a fitting recognition for an artist whose career has spanned more than seven decades.
