National Arts & Culture Trust Lifetime Achievement Award

In 2006, Dr Esther Mahlangu was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Arts and Culture Trust (NACT).

The award recognised a career already spanning more than six decades, and Dr Mahlangu's singular role in carrying Ndebele painting from the homestead to the world. The Lifetime Achievement Award is among South Africa's foremost cultural honours, celebrating individuals whose work has made a defining contribution to the nation's artistic life.
